I am a silversmith working in Anacortes Washington. I use a technique called overlay which was created by the Hopi Indians and is still used today. This is a process using two pieces of silver soldered together with the design cut out of the top piece. This is then oxidized with a solution turning the area that is cut out black. Each piece is then polished to a high shine.
I have always been interested in ethnic histories and cultures. Ancient forms of communication such as myths petroglyphs and rock paintings are the main inspiration behind my jewelry designs. I try to incorporate my love of the Northwest in the work that I create.
